Biography

Constantine "Corky" Chanov of Liberty, NY passed away unexpectedly at Catskill Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. He was 52.

The son of Kiprian and Maria Kaplov Chanov, he was born on August 8, 1961 in Suffern, NY.

He graduated from Liberty Central High School, class of 1979. Corky became a volunteer Firefighter in 1979, when he joined the J.C. Young Hose Co #1. For the past 35 years he has served his community above and beyond the call of duty. He served in all offices throughout the company, including Lieutenant, Captain, and Past Chief.

On August 1, 1981, Corky married his high school sweetheart, soul mate, and best friend Robin DeGraw in Woodbourne, NY. They had three beautiful girls, Jamie, Christy, and Corie. Corky joined the Hudson Valley District Council Carpenters Union Local 279 in 1986. He retired from Local 279 in 2012 and was presently employed at New Hope Community in Loch Sheldrake, NY.

Corky was a kind, caring, loving, person who was always there for anyone who was in need. Although he had many accomplishments in his life, the ones he was most proud of were his wife, his girls, and his three treasures, Peyton (Pudge), Cameryn (Fweety), and Ryder (Buggy). He loved being a grandfather and would jump, leap, and bounce for them.

Corky leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Robin at home; three daughters Jamie Chanov, Christy Hook, and her husband Jeih, and Corie Chanov, and her companion CJ, all of Liberty; his loving parents; two brothers Mike Chanov, and his wife Tami and Paul Chanov and his companion Sheryl, all of Liberty; sisters Chris Zdravkovic of Connecticut, Natalie Cillis of Livingston Manor, and Mary Chanov of Liberty, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, George Chanov.

A memorial service to honor Corky's memory will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Liberty Fire Department at 256 Sprague Ave, Liberty NY at 11AM, with Firematic services to follow with Chaplain George Dexheimer officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in "Corky's" name to the J.C. Young Hose Co. # 1, 256 Sprague Ave, Box 1, Liberty, NY.
